every year at tax time we should be able to pay a grow tax fee per house hold that would permit us to grow our own marijiana so the federal goverment would have let say we pay 250.00 out of our taxes every year to grow our own. Then the money people use to buy it will now be put back the money into the economy. selling is still illigal.

This petition will force legislators and lawmakers to know what the basic civil rights of each individual are. This is a good idea because it will eliminate ignorant or uneducated candidates from the election process, leaving voters with intelligent and ethical politicians.

Russ Feingold should run for the US Senate in Wisconsin in 2012. We need his strong, principled progressive voice back in Washington, fighting for working Americans and holding big corporations accountable.

Our democracy is dysfunctional. Wealthy interests underwrite the campaigns of their favorite candidates, then these elected officials become their servants rather than servants of the common good. How else could a few Americans have oppressed the rest of us with credit default swaps, health insurers able to rescind sick patients, and economic policy tilted towards the few wealthiest citizens? A single legislative initiative will restore a vital democratic process in America. We need a constitutional amendment making all House, Senate, and Presidential campaigns entirely publicly financed.

Take a look at this and tell me it won't fix Congress. It will! One thing that is abundantly clear is that Washington DC, and Congress in particular, is very messed up. This legislation will create a substantially different atmosphere for our elected ones, and they had better be there to SERVE US AND NOT THEMSELVES!

The decolonization of Puerto Rico should be carried out according to the United Nation's Resolution 1514(XV) of the General Assembly of 1960. Such resolution is considered the Magna Charta of decolonization. Independence is an inalienable right. Further all Puerto Rican political prisoners should be freed.

We need an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to stop the legalized bribery of elected officials by big business, labor unions, lobbyists and wealthy individuals. Only registered voters should be allowed to sway the candidates by donating money to their campaign and their political party. While Congress could pass laws to accomplish this, they clearly are not willing to give up this bountiful source of money.

Businessman Ted Mavrakis has come under social and political cross-hairs for his desire to lease prime real estate space to The Tilted Kilt restaurant chain. The opponents of this plan have voiced their opinion, and are now asking the government to act in a way that will disallow this lease to happen. With recent mall foreclosures, excessive commercial vacancies, and a civic government that is littered with ineffectiveness and unaccountability, I am, just as many others are, deeply bothered by this. I refuse to watch the government make yet another foolish decision that will be detrimental to the business community. I refuse to let the voices of the few, who happen to be screaming the loudest, have their way once again. Mrs. Mayor, with all due respect, please take an objective look and see what is happening to our “downtown” area. We are in dire need of economic growth. We are in dire need of businesses that will drive traffic to the downtown area. You need to allow The Tilted Kilt to obtain their liquor license. Allow Mr. Mavrakis to lease his space by doing so, and let those who don't want to patronize this establishment dine elsewhere. I am hoping to gather 4000 signatures in support of growth in the downtown area, in agreement that the local government needs to realign itself behind the fledgling business community, and in support of Mr. Mavrakis untarnished track record in this town.

America’s own worst enemy is its corpocracy, the Devil’s marriage between big business and our twin political parties. It is ruling and ruining America. Among advanced countries America has the greatest income inequality; highest unemployment; greatest insecurity over putting food on the table; lowest life expectancy at birth; and largest prison population (minus unaccountable corporate criminals). The corpocracy has also shrunk the middle class; catered to the wealthy elite; left millions of Americans without health insurance coverage; and has started endless, unwinnable, costly wars for profit and power that snuff out millions of lives, fuel terrorism against America, and sacrifice the general welfare. Our nation’s founders didn’t like corporations or political parties. Corporations were not mentioned in our Constitution. The America today is not what our founders envisioned, and they would be horrified if they were to return. The Constitution was meant to promote the general welfare of the American people, not corporate and political welfare. The corpocracy is extremely powerful and has powerful allies like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The corpocracy’s opposition is weak and divided. The only way to end the corpocracy is to unite its opposition. There are many NGOs with millions of members opposed to the corpocracy, but they are not united.

In the 1886 case between Santa Clara County v Southern Pacific Railroad, the Supreme Court ruled that corporations had the same rights as natural person, by using the language in the 14th Amendment guaranteeing freed African Americans legal rights. This ruling has allowed for the courts to side with corporations in the Citizens United case to allow for unlimited corporate donations ot elections.
