Help Oppose Overhead Transmission Lines

DNR,
We, the undersigned, would like to formally oppose the MARL overhead transmission line project in advance of the March 13 "Open House" at Savage River Lodge. By attending the "Open House," We hope you will clarify why DNR has NOT been outwardly opposed to legislation that violates the lands it is charged to protect. The silence about the proposed decimation of protected land is alarming and raising suspicion in the region and beyond.
We encourage DNR to revisit COMAR statutes to see how bills SB0399 and HB1270 ignore guidelines already in place for development projects like NextEra Energy is proposing. We would also remind DNR that over fifty years ago, Maryland legislators saw this day coming when they passed protective measures for our wildlands to guard them against human interference. At the very least, DNR should defend that prophetic statute designed to ensure our wildlands remain intact in perpetuity and stand up to corporate or political aggression.
Sincerely,
Engage Mountain Maryland
