North Carolina- Petition Against State Resource Usage In Mass Deportations

Dear Governor Stein,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the potential involvement of North Carolina’s state agencies in assisting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with mass deportations. North Carolina has long been a place of diversity, resilience, and opportunity, and I urge you to uphold our state’s values by ensuring that all residents—regardless of immigration status—can live without fear of being unjustly targeted.

Immigrant communities are vital to North Carolina’s economic, social, and cultural fabric. They contribute significantly to our workforce, small businesses, and community development. Farmers, educators, healthcare workers, and service industry employees—many of whom are immigrants—play a crucial role in keeping our state thriving. By aligning our state policies with mass deportation efforts, we risk tearing families apart, destabilizing local economies, and instilling fear in communities that should feel safe and welcomed.

Furthermore, the collaboration between state agencies and ICE erodes trust in local law enforcement. When immigrants fear that routine interactions with authorities could lead to deportation, they are less likely to report crimes, seek medical assistance, or engage in civic life. This weakens public safety for everyone, as crime goes unreported and community relationships with law enforcement deteriorate.

Instead of aiding in mass deportations, North Carolina should continue to be a leader in inclusivity and humanity. Policies that protect immigrant communities foster a stronger, more unified state where every individual has the opportunity to contribute without fear of discrimination or displacement. I urge you to stand firm against any efforts to use our state’s resources to assist in mass deportations and to advocate for policies that prioritize human dignity, family unity, and economic stability.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I trust in your leadership to ensure that North Carolina remains a place of opportunity and security for all.

Sincerely,
The People of North Carolina

Why is this important?

Everyone who cares about their neighbor should sign this petition in hopes to make and keep NC as a state that is seen as a safe and welcoming place for all. While we cannot control what the federal government is doing, we do have the power to reach out to our government, especially our governor, as we elected them to work in our best interest.
