This petition addresses the exorbitant charges and billing irregularities that New York State electric and gas customers are facing monthly. Despite no changes in household energy consumption, bills have escalated dramatically, with my own bill increasing from $175-$220 to $350-$500 in less than a year, representing a $175-$280 monthly surge. Furthermore, I, along with numerous others, have experienced billing discrepancies, including receiving no bill for a month only to be subsequently charged a substantial amount. The hundreds of complaints testify that this issue warrants urgent attention and resolution, necessitating an end to the unjustified billing practices and inadequate customer service.
