STOP the Reckless and Dangerous Drag Racing in Queens, NY!

I write this letter as a Sunnyside resident and on behalf of all Queens County residents affected by the reckless endangerment of drag racing in the streets of our community. There are countless sleepless nights that I awaken to disturbing sounds of drag racing, from loud screeches to engines revving and exhaust pipes exploding. These activities do not happen once in a while. They are events that happen night after night for 20 - 30 minutes. Residents with families, small children and elderly citizens are woken up and lie in bed waiting to hear police sirens, which never come. Residents like myself also call community help numbers like 311, only to be told, "Thank you for your call. Someone will be out there, but it can take anywhere up to 8 hours." This is unacceptable, negligent, and a complete disrespect to the taxpaying citizens of this county. We demand that you address and enforce serious consequences to put a stop to this dangerous and potentially fatal behavior in the streets of our home.
