To: The Senate

Tell the Senate to CONFIRM the Democratic NLRB Chair!

The Democratic chair of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Lauren McFerran, has been awaiting a floor vote since a Senate committee signed off on her nomination in August.

If the full Senate—which is controlled by a razor-thin Democratic majority right now—reconfirms McFerran, then Democratic board members would retain the majority into 2026. Workers will need even more support, as Trump and his right-wing extremist picks will work to corrupt and degrade existing labor law.

The NLRB largely sets labor law rules through decisions in individual cases, which are prosecuted by the agency’s presidentially appointed general counsel. One could think of the NLRB as a mini-SCOTUS of sorts. The real Supreme Court is filled with right-wing extremists who support Trump and the MAGA agenda, and we’ve seen the result of Trump’s appointments in the past few years—from the overturning of Roe to the decision that gave Trump total immunity in Trump v. United States. The NLRB handles all types of cases, big and small, establishing labor law for workers across the country, and we need to maintain a Democratic majority for the NLRB. Confirm Lauren McFerran as the NLRB chair!

Why is this important?

There is so much uncertainty ahead, but we know that getting through the next four years will rely on us coming together to support one another and doing everything we can to slow down Trump and his MAGA agenda in Congress and in our communities.

We will not stop fighting for our rights, and we will resist Trump's dangerous and regressive agenda at every turn. If the Senate reconfirms Lauren McFerran, Democrats can maintain a majority on the National Labor Relations Board and ensure labor and worker safety at a federal level at least until 2026. There should be no more delays: Confirm Lauren McFerran, the Democratic chair of the National Labor Relations Board NOW!
