• Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez dance party
I am starting this petition to prove to everyone that members of Congress can, and SHOULD, be people. Ordinary people, who laugh, sing, care for one another, and yes, DANCE. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has already proven herself on this issue, and as a proven multi-tasker I'm asking her to continue to lead by example, and bring some STEP to Washington D.C. Thank you.

  • America’s Real Shutdown
I’m tired of feeling helpless in the face of tyranny. I’m tired of the rest of the world watching us and wondering why America isn’t doing anything to get rid of Trump. I’m tired of being bullied and attacked daily. I’m tired of being lied to.

  • Learn to build bridges instead of walls
Mr. President. It's 2019 time to lead by example and promote unity rather than devide" As a leader and example to others we should be building bridges instead of walls" Which reminds me of a story of two brothers living on a farms about a half mile from each other separated by a pond , they always got along for over 50 years , one day they got into a headed argument or disagreement over something meaningless and bad words were exchanged so they stopped talking to each other. One day a stranger who was traveling knocked on the older brother's door and said hi I'm a traveling Carpenter and I wonder do you have any work for me ? The older brother thought for a minute and said yes I do! me and my brother are not talking and he lives right across the pond from me and I never want to see his face again so you see those tree's over there" knock them down and build a 10 foot wall between us , I'm going in to the other town to do business I'll be back. When he arrived instead a a wall or fence the Carpenter build him a bridge and his younger brother saw the bridge ran over hugged his brother and. Said, after those bad words I said you still build us a bridge? So they forgave each other then they saw the old Carpenter walking away the brothers said hey Mr please stay with us a few more days I have more work for you " the Carpenter said NO thanks' I have more bridges to build for people. Therefore let us no longer create separation and divide confusion and hate and let us come together united as a great nation founded by people of all around the world and look for positive progressive transparent solutions to solving our immigration issues and many other problems here at home rather than hiding behind a wall" Mr. President TEAR DOWN THAT WALL!!! ( Jesus in disguised as the carpenter )

  • Susan Collins: End this government shutdown
The partial government shutdown has affected many employees across the U.S, who have gone for more than 2 weeks without a paycheck. Trash is overflowing at national parks, polluting the greatest nature in this country. And worse, President Trump plans to extend this shutdown for "months or years" just to get a big TRUMP wall on the border! We must act, and get Susan Collins, who has vocalized her support for a spending bill regardless of its border wall position, to vote "yes" on a spending bill to stand up to President Trump and end this government shutdown that has affected too many government employees and regular American citizens.

  • do NOT make a "racist troll" chair of Finance Committee
After Ald. Ed Burke was indicted for corruption, he stepped down as chair of the City of Chicago Finance Committee. Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants Ald. Patrick O'Connor to replace Burke. 1. City Council should choose the chairs of committees. 2. O'Connor engaged in reprehensible, racist attacks on Ugo Okere, a Nigerian-American candidate challenging O'Connor during an October 16, 2018 candidate forum.

  • J.B. Pritzker: Keep Fossil Fuel Lobbyists Out of Political Influence and Renounce Your Ties to En...
Illinois has an incoming Governor who has promised to heed the research conclusions accepted universally by the entire scientific community and bring our state into the Paris Climate Agreement. But for years he has cuddled up to the fossil fuel industries responsible for environmental damage and human rights violations throughout the United States. As a 22-year old, who has grown up witnessing the increasing severity of human-caused climate change over the last two decades, I will not sit back and watch the only planet our species calls home be snuffed out by moneyed interests that only care for profit. You wouldn't be able to bear the thought of finding the right answer to the question of "What was the air like when it was breathable?" that your future children shall ask many decades from now.

  • This police union wants dangerous cops back on the streets. Demand they stop.
The reckless actions of St. Louis County police officers Alex Maloy and Mark Jakob killed two Black men, beloved community members Mikel Neil and Townsal Woolfolk. Then they lied about it to investigators. They’re exactly the kind of officers who shouldn’t have a badge and gun, and the police chief decided to fire them. So why is the local police union fighting to put them back on the police force? It’s another example of police unions defending officers and shielding them from accountability no matter what they do. On August 10, officers Alex Maloy and Mark Jakob started chasing a car after it allegedly ran a red light, going against department policy that prohibits car chases unless there’s a serious crime. Witnesses say that the high-speed chase resulted in the police car ramming a car, causing it to spin out of control and crash. The two men inside were killed, and the officers left the scene without helping or reporting what had happened. For months, the police department denied that the car chase happened. We organized to demand the truth and keep a spotlight on this case, and we were able to obtain two videos from surveillance cameras that clearly show the police car chasing another car at high speed, with its lights flashing. These videos forced the police to admit that officers Maloy and Jakob tried to cover up the truth, and the department fired them. But now, the St. Louis County Police Association -- a chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police -- is attacking that decision, and fighting to have these officers reinstated. This is the same union that failed to protect Nikki Brown, a Black officer who complained about discrimination within the department. Because the community organized for truth and justice, officers Maloy and Jakob were fired. But if the police union succeeds, these dangerous officers will be back on the streets. Police unions often succeed in reinstating abusive and corrupt officers after the community’s attention has moved on. It’s a key part of how police unions block accountability. We can’t let that happen here. If enough of us call out the police union, we can expose their attempt to block accountability, making it harder for them to get bad cops back on the force, in this case, and in the future. After you sign the petition, we’ll follow up with other ways to increase the pressure on the police union and push for justice in this case.

  • Pay Parity During Government Shutdowns
This government shutdown is going on because the "important" departments (Defense) have funding. I believe if the President and every Congressman had to explain to his/her family that he/she is working without pay a deal would be struck and there would never be another shutdown. I favor legislation (or a constitutional amendment) that ties suspension of pay to the President and all members of the House and Senate equal to TWO days for every day any Federal agency is shut down for lack of funding.
