CDC Dog ban exemption for vaccinated pets

The CDC has recently banned all dogs from a huge list of countries from entering the USA in order to prevent the spread of rabies, based on three cases, all involving rescue dogs imported from Egypt. This ban is being unfairly and capriciously applied to emotional support, service, and other dogs of US citizens, which pose absolutely no risk of spreading rabies. We are therefore calling on our representatives in the House and our Senators to contact the CDC and demand that a permanent, explicit exemption be made to the notice allowing US citizens to travel with their fully vaccinated dogs. To do otherwise robs these Americans of their most basic rights.

Why is this important?

The notice is overly broad, and punitive to those Americans who choose to travel with their fully vaccinated dogs. There are a whole lot of good, decent American citizens who legally travel internationally with their dogs, who already jump through all kinds of hoops to fly with our four-legged companions who will be adversely impacted by this order. Some will be forced to leave their homes abroad to return to the US with their dogs, fearing they might not ever get back in. Many who planned to travel internationally will simply cancel their plans and stay home instead. Others will simply have to live with the uncertainty of not knowing when, if ever, they will be able to travel with their dogs back to the US. This class of animals (fully vaccinated dogs traveling with their owners) need to be excluded from this overly broad notice - they are some of the most well cared for animals on the planet -- they're not the problem. They don't have rabies, they're not a risk. Including them in this order is completely unfair.

Traveling with our fully vaccinated pets matters to us. Please join us in calling on the CDC to allow a permanent exemption to this notice for fully vaccinated dogs of US citizens.
