We, the students of Cedar Ridge Highschool, are writing to express deep concern over the recent protests occurring near or on school grounds that are targeting transgender individuals and a specific teacher.

These protests have made many students feel unsafe, uncomfortable, and disrespected. They are creating a hostile environment that goes against the values of inclusion, respect, and safety that our school community stands for.

We believe that no student or staff member should be subject to harassment, intimidation, or targeted attacks—especially not within or near a place meant for learning and support. The well-being of our peers and teachers is being directly impacted, and we call for action to be taken.

We respectfully ask the school administration to:

  1. Publicly reaffirm the school’s commitment to supporting trans students, staff, and allies.
  2. Work with local authorities to ensure protests do not become threatening or disruptive.
  3. Provide additional resources for students affected by these events.
  4. Make clear that targeting individual staff members or students is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Why is this important?

Other people should join this campaign because it’s about standing up for dignity, safety, and fairness—not just for trans students and the targeted teacher, but for the entire school community.

When people are harassed or singled out, it affects everyone by creating a climate of fear and division. By joining together, students send a clear message: our school is a place where everyone belongs and no one should be made to feel unsafe for who they are or what they believe in.

Change happens when voices unite—and the more students who speak up, the stronger that message becomes.
