To: NYC Council Members:

Jamaica Qns residents fight CM Miller for clean environment & NO waste increase. Kill Int 2349-A

The Jamaica Queens Community, zip code 11433, would like NYC Council Members to discard the waste capacity proposed in Councilman Miller’s NYC Int. 2349-A. This will not benefit the community. This Int. 2349-A only benefits the waste transfer organizations and the elected official that gets funding from these organizations, at the expense of the district they represent.
There is no waste equity in NYC, it is Community abuse and neglect in disadvantaged areas. This is why we have to get environmental lawyers to help us, our elected officials won't and don't support us.

Why is this important?

Our fight for a clean environment and clean air, must be heard. Pollutants from the local waste transfer stations on Douglas Ave. have caused asthma, cancer, and other health ailments in our community, and enough is enough. We have been neglected too many years by our elected officials in exchange for them getting funding from these waste stations in Jamaica, Queens. Waste stations “fund our NYC parks” and “help the community” while they get passes to pollute our community. We must fight against this environmental racism.

How it will be delivered

We will hand deliver to CM Miller's office and email all NYC Council Members. CM Miller pushed the vote up to this Thursday, July 29th. Tell your Council Member to vote NO to this Int. 2349-A legislation.

Thank you, we reached 200 signatures in 3 days. Please continue to make neighbors aware of this petition. This is community outreach. Outreach was never performed by our elected officials. If they actually outreached, the elected officials knew they would get a NO to an increase in waste in our already pollution burdened Jamaica Queens community.

We had a rally today, Tuesday, July 27th, at Council Member Miller's office. The Press was there and heard the truth about the pollution, from the many residents that live near the Waste Transfer Stations.
