Keep Cathay Open

KEEP CATHAY RESTAURANT OPEN IN THE PALISADES
Hello
I am a resident in the palisades and for as long as I can remember I have always gone to Cathay with my family. Like many, the energy and the comfort that I experience when being there makes me feel at home. The food is prepared with care and the staff is so kind and always welcoming. When I enter through the doors of the restaurant I instantly feel the warmth and kindness and get a sense of family.

I was deeply hurt to learn that the landlords of Cathay are trying to close the restaurant. After being in the palisades family for over 30 years the landlords said that they no longer fit their “ tenant mix” The owners of Cathay offered to renovate, and tried to ask for an extension by offering to pay higher rent, but they firmly refused.

As a resident of the Palisades for the past 14 years, I would like to think of our community as one that welcomes diversity, welcomes all races, and religions, and truly honors our differences as the quilt that keeps us together. What a shame it would be to lose a representation of a culture and a cuisine that is so rich in its history.

To so many people over the past 30 years, Cathay has held some of their fondest memories. People come to Cathay to share meals with family, friends, co-workers, relatives, and strangers, they connect over the food that is filled with kindness and care.

Why is this important?

Cathay has been a part of the palisades community for so long.
Whenever You go in you always feel warmed by the delicious food that was made with kindness and joy. Cathay is wrongfully being forced out of their building for the reason that they don’t fit the building owners “ tenant mix.”
we as people of the community will fight to keep them in the palisades and have them continue being a part of the palisades family.
