Make Juneteenth a State-Wide Paid Holiday

Juneteenth, which is celebrated on June 19th, is the oldest nationally recognized commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. In recognition of this important milestone in our nation's history, and in honor of African American people throughout our nation, we ask that June 19th become a statewide paid holiday in Illinois.

Why is this important?

As people across the country and the world have taken to the streets to demand racial equality and justice it is time for Illinois to step up to this moment in history. Governor Pritzker, make Juneteenth a statewide paid holiday!
