No tear gas during COVID-19 pandemic
Doctors demand moratorium on the use of tear gas for crowd control during Covid19 pandemic.
Why is this important?
As medical providers we are very concerned about the use of tear gas during the Covid19 pandemic. It is a sure way to make people sneeze, cough, spit, cry, scream and touch their faces, all things that can increase tremendously the risk of Covid19 transmission and all but guarantee further spread of this disease.
Tear gas in this context will act as a biological weapon that will affect the general population well beyond those at the protests. We strongly advise against its use under all circumstances at this time.
