  • I Support Occupy Vancouver
The supporters of Occupy Vancouver need to make their voices known. The City is preparing an injunction on the grounds of health and safety. We all know this is a political issue. We're calling on the city to support democracy in action. Occupy Vancouver is part of a growing worldwide movement to brings governments back to the people. We oppose systemic inequality, militarization, environmental destruction, and the erosion of civil liberties and human rights. We seek economic security, genuine equality, and the protection of the environment for all. We can not be at the Vancouver Art Gallery but we believe in this movement. We are also voters. We call on the city to: 1. Stop bowing to political pressure to remove the camp and acknowledge that a political protest is protected under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. 2. Acknowledge that the City is playing politics with health and safety and the VFD is being used to pursue the political goal of removing the camp before the election. 3. Recognize that encampments are integral to Occupy Vancouver and the movement as a whole. Talk of splitting the two is a disingenuous way to split the issue. The protest is the encampment is the movement. 4. Acknowledge that Vancouver, like many other cities, has numerous citizens who are disenfranchised and addicted to drugs. 5. Acknowledge that people overdose and die on the streets of Vancouver every day. 6. Follow the lead of Irvine, California, and Los Angeles, California, and endorse the occupation.

  • V.A. Stop The Abuse of Veterans
Our Nations Veterans are suffering due to the continued violations of Due Process of Law, failures of Regional offices to expedite or consider, and excess Board Of Veterans Appeals Remands for claims that should not be denied based on overwelming evidence in favor of veterans disabilities based on service to the United States. The OIG has sited several Regional Offices for violations of veterans rights and illegal actions with little or no accountability. As a direct result our Nations veterans and families are suffering through several years of the claims process, BVA Remands and appeals. The process can take 5, 10, 15 years. This is Totally Unacceptable and must be stopped immediatly. Many veterans have given up on the claims process and the system that is supposed to help them, they become homeless, over one quarter of the Homeless are veterans and veteran families. Many are facing Foreclosure due to the claims process and suicide among veterans is at alarming numbers. This is due to well documented negligence with in the Department Of Veterans Affairs and the Regional Offices. We demand that the claims process be expedited for backlogged claims and appeals based on their merit and evidence including military and civilian medical reports with in a timely manner and that veterans be given Medical and mental health evaluations with in timely manner as needed. We also Demand Accountability for Violations of veterans rights with the claims process and violations of Due Process of Law on the part of the VA and Regional Offices.

  • Justice For Antwoine Bealer
DEMAND JUSTICE - RELEASE RADIO LOG Ask District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis to release the Radio Log of officer Efrain Garcia from the incident concerning Antwoine Bealer on October 15, 2004. Please see website www.justicetwicedenied.com . I believe my son is sitting in prison now because I had the nerves to file a lawsuit against the City of San Diego, County of San Diego and State of California. The eye witness to the crime stated the suspect was 200 pounds and 6 feet tall, Antwoine was 5”11” and weighted only 119 pounds that day because he had went through so much emotional trauma. He had lost a friend who had committed suicide, another friend to murder, an aunt, an uncle to murder and a boss who had attempted suicide. The main issue is not the weight or where he was stopped because the log will show that the officer was not telling the truth about the location. The main issue is that the prosecutor refused to give up the Radio Log that would prove Antwoine was no where near the crime scene. The law clearly states that the prosecutor has to release all information. We are not asking for anything more than what the law says we are entitled to. The request is simple - Give Antwoine the log and let the chips fall where they may. Go to website to see Reward for first person able to obtain the legitimate Radio Log.

  • Senators - VOTE NO on H.R. 2218 - Empowering Parents through Quality Charter Schools Act
Dear Senators: The recent passage of H.R. 2218, the Empowering Parents Through the Quality Charter Schools Act by the House of Representatives is equally troubling. The nation’s teachers are not alone in their condemnation of this potential federal mandate to implement Charter Schools in every state. The Association of School Administrators has also raised concerns that H.R.2218 will harm the commitment to properly fund public schools by siphoning money through the voucher system to private charter schools falsely labeled as “Public Charters”. While some effective charter schools exist, significant fraud and abuse of the public trust has occurred across the nation among charter schools and their operators. We are witnessing a re-segregating of our nation’s schools in the areas of: 1. Race 2. Class 3. Ability 4. Sexual Orientation 5. Language We are equally concerned that the interest of corporations and wealthy individuals has corrupted education policy in a way which will irreparably change the focus of education from one of success, learning, and accomplishment for children; to one designed merely for profit by corporations. We the undersigned feel that a unique opportunity exists for you to reaffirm your commitment to education for all of America's children by VOTING NO – against H.R. 2218. Your NAY VOTE will be a clear signal that you are not taking the side of corporate money and Wall Street hedge funders. It will be a firm gesture that indicates your genuine concern for the nation's children, teachers and schools. Sincerely,

  • Save Pig
I'd like the City council and Animal control to write or rewrite the city ordinance to allow me to keep Pig. He is my emotional support animal. He has been in my home for the past almost 5 years, since he was 6 weeks old. Animal control agreed to have pigs in the city but didn't write an ordnance that satisfied the Billings city council. They both agreed to work together to try and find a way to help myself and other keep our pigs so we wouldn't have to sell our homes. They didn't. Recently animal control saw Pig in my back yard while he was going to the bathroom and wrote us a citation. Giving us 20 days to re-home him. Pig is quiet, he isn't destructive, he isn't smelly, he is only outside to go to the bathroom. They gave us 20 days to "re-home" him. Of that there is only14 days left. Pig lives inside 98% of the time. So he can't just move to a farm. His body will not regulate to the summer or winter temperatures or weather. I love him and I need him. He needs me. Please help me. I have reached out to both of the City council members for my zone and have not gotten much of a response back. I can't lose my Pig.

  • To close the bathroom doors of ABHS
First, it was the boys bathroom the school had taken out their mirrors as well. Then, it was the women’s bathroom. Why are the students upset? Maybe because it takes away our dignity. Others can see men and women in the bathroom from the reflection in the mirrors. Taking them down only solve 5% of the problems. Mental health being a big part in high school students around the world and here at Anchor Bay. If I student is overwhelmed a save space one may go is the restroom. It’s away from everyone and the doors would have been closed. With the bathroom doors open it take away that safe space students used to use in times of need. Another reason is women have a time of the month many kids in high school are insecure about it. Imagine how they feel now that the whole walking populating passing the bathroom would hear them changing a pad.last reason is the guys bathroom. The guys use urinals and those from my knowledge are not in a stall. The mirrors getting taken down is a precaution but the door is open. With the door closed they had at least a little dignity. Now it has been crushed. Male Students are scared to use the bathroom in fear a bystander could see them well they walk by. Something needs to be done for the students at Anchor Bay High School. That’s why I strongly believe the doors to all bathrooms should be closed.

  • CARE OVER CUTS - Petition to Senator John Fetterman: Use Every Tool to Protect Medicaid
We are calling on Senator John Fetterman to take every possible action to stop or weaken the Medicaid cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act as it heads to the Senate. Even as a member of the Senate minority, Senator Fetterman has real tools and influence, and we need him to use them now. We ask Senator Fetterman to: 1. Publicly and loudly oppose the bill in its current form Make clear that these Medicaid cuts are unacceptable and would endanger millions. 2. Use Senate procedures to delay or block the bill This includes placing a hold on the bill or supporting a filibuster to slow down or prevent a vote. 3. Introduce or support amendments Work with fellow senators to remove or rewrite the provisions that would take Medicaid away from millions of people, especially those with chronic illnesses or disabilities. 4. Raise public awareness Use his platform to elevate patient stories and build pressure on Senate leadership and moderate senators who may be persuaded to oppose the bill. 5. Rally colleagues and committees Coordinate with Senate Democrats and engage key committees to force debate, demand hearings, and fight for changes. Senator Fetterman has stood up for us before. Now we are asking him to do it again, not just with words, but with action. The lives of people across Pennsylvania and the country depend on it.
