  • We Mainers Need An East-West Highway!
    We rural New Englanders need an East-West highway! We live in a depressed mill town going through bankruptcy. We have a gorgeous towns with a ton to offer but it's so remote that very few people come here to spend money on tourism etc. We have very few jobs not related to the woods. An easy-west highway would really open up our area to hundreds of thousands of tourists and traffic.

  • Tell Texas Lawmakers: "Buy American"
    Please support House Bill 535, the "Buy American Bill." This bill will create new jobs here, in Texas as well as across the United States, instead of overseas. HB 535 will give preference first to goods made in Texas, and if Texas-made goods are not available at a comparable price, then those made in the rest of the United States get the next preference. We need to invest in our jobs here, not overseas. Please support HB 535.

  • Save Federal Unemployment Benefits for 70,000
    The decision to shut down federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation in North Carolina is without precedent nationally. It is both a self-inflicted wound to the state's economy and an act of government callousness. Please take action before July 1 to make sure North Carolina families are not pushed over the cliff that has been unnecessarily created by HB 4. Change the bill so that the new unemployment system begins in January 2014 to restore this program for these families.

    As citizens of Ulster County and/or potential customers of the Catskill Mountain Railroad, we are interested in keeping an unsegmented scenic railroad from Kingston to Phoenicia in New York state. There are many trails in Ulster County, but only one historic operating railroad. Let the Catskill Mountain Railroad maintain itself and extend its lease indefinitely throughout the Ulster County portion of the Ulster and Delaware corridor. Preserve our history and keep our taxes down!

    Please create a new PAC, called "Normal, Reasonable Americans, The "Other" N.R.A.", to raise money to be used for advertisements against the corrupt, cowardly Senators who voted against Gun Control Legislation, because they are on the take from the N.R.A. and more concerned about their cushy Senate jobs than the fears and wishes of their constituents. If united citizens could defeat Citizens United in 2012, "our" N.R.A. can defeat "their" N.R.A. in 2014 and 2016.

  • Truth in reporting - hold their feet to the fire
    The powerhouse of media ownership and lobby interest groups threaten our governing, laws, and virtually all aspects of American lives when false or misleading soundbites are reported as truth in what is liberally promoted as "news". Enact serious progressive negative consequences, which ultimately will threaten the existence of media who is willing to engage in such activity without clearly identifying content as editorial. Hold them responsible both personally at the highest board levels and corporately.

    We, the undersigned members of the Florida State University community, including faculty, students, staff, alumni, supporters and taxpayers, believe that the current search process for Florida State University’s next President is flawed and call on the FSU Board of Trustees to do the following: • Hire a new search firm or conduct the search internally. • Reconstitute the Presidential Search Committee, adding additional faculty and student members. • Suspend the search process until the above measures are enacted.
