  • Build a bridge they will come
For 36 years Lake Champlain Transportation has monopolized the market of providing Ferry service to bridge the gap from Cumberland Head NY to Grand Isle Vermont. Despite repeated failed attempts to build a bridge we are once again revisiting this option. As our economy stays stagnant and the unemployment rate continues climbing what better way to extend benefits to both Vermonters and New Yorkers. While it is understood a project as large as this will no doubt take some time this is a must do on any government officials list. There are many reasons this would be a win-win situation for all involved. This would create jobs and we could enforce that this project ONLY employ, unemployed workers from either Clinton County NY or Grand Isle County, so as to make this a more personal effect on those invlolved. If the US Dept. of Transportation grant was made available for reconstructing and building the Crown Point Bridge their is no reason that same/similar funding can not be relied upon to construct a bridge from Cumberland head NY to Grand Isle Vermont.

  • Help send 50,000 comments to the State Department demanding that it reject Keystone XL!
The State Department’s approval of Keystone XL was based on a stale environmental review from 2014 and violated our nation’s bedrock environmental laws. The State Department must set aside the approval of the project and prepare a supplemental Environmental Impact Statement to evaluate the change in the Nebraska route and to address the numerous deficiencies that are currently being litigated in federal court. Specifically, in addition to analyzing the new Nebraska route, key issues needing re-analysis include: the project’s effect on tar sands development, the no action alternative, cumulative climate impacts with other tar sands pipelines, changes in oil prices, crude-by-rail shipping realities, new pipeline oil spills since the project was approved (including on TransCanada’s own Keystone I pipeline), oil spill response and preparedness developments, improvements in greenhouse gas modeling, and harm to endangered species such as the whooping crane. Keystone XL was a bad idea when it was first proposed a decade ago, and it’s a worse idea today. The State Department, BLM, and all other federal agencies should deny the permits for the project. Thank you,

  • Stop USF from cutting down two healthy Monterey Cypress trees
The University of San Francisco wants to clear the tree buffer of two mature, healthy Monterey Cypress trees at the end of Hemway St. This dead end street could become easy campus access to their open space baseball field. Removing the trees would literally pave the way to development! Ulrich Field has been evaluated in the past as a potential site for an underground parking structure, with a field or other uses on top. When USF was looking for a place to put a new residence hall, the 2012 Master Plan concluded: The main benefit that Ulrich Field offers for new development is that it is a large, level site at street level. This however might equally be considered a drawback as the flow of traffic, both by car and foot, would increase in the immediate neighborhood. Ulrich Baseball Field is also bordered on three sides by residential properties: residences on Hemway and Atalaya Terraces to the south, residences on the east side of Masonic Avenue, and residences on the north side of Golden Gate Avenue. Therefore, in the context of potential impacts on nearby neighbors, the University concluded that this site…would be the least desirable. That's our neighborhood!

  • An Export Tax on ALL Petrolium Products leaving the Unites States of America ...
A petition to the federal Government to Place an Export Tax on All Petrolium Pruducts Leaving AMERICAN Shores. WE the voters and Tax Payers Demand an Export Tax on ALL petrolium products leaving the United States And it's teritories. We also demand that the Revenues from this tax go directly to pay down the principal on the NATIONAL DEBT! This will end our Dependence on foreign oil coming from volatile parts of the world AND Pay down the crushing national debt! WE also demand the government to end ALL subsidies and tax loopholes to the petrolium industries! These monies could be used to also pay down the National Debt or better yet, Build clean New refineries in or near Nebraska where the current pipeline from Canada ends! This would create thousands of new jobs while avoiding the weak excuses about reduced refining capacity as the reason for shortages and higher prices at the gas pump! We are sick and tired of the rising Personal And National Debt when the Gun at Our Heads is the nozzle at the gas pump! Thomas J Keane and the undersigned.

The Fair Sentencing Act (H.R. 2316) is very important, because it will allow the courts to reduce a sentence where the prisoner was convicted for crack cocaine without any restrictions, even to the point of immediate release. Please support H.R. 2316. A perfect example is the Hall Brothers case. They were sentenced in 1993 and have been incarcerated for 19 years. Non-violent first time offenders, these men could be immediately released by passing H.R. 2316. There are many, many non-violent men and women locked behind prison walls sentenced to long, hard, cruel sentences. These men and women have paid their debts to society and have changed their lives and the lives of others. Congress and the sentencing commission agreed and changed the laws concerning the punishment for crack cocaine sentencing. But this did not apply to those with mandatory sentences. Please help us to make the new law fair to all those who have been convicted in crack cocaine cases. • Investigate Trump officials for putting our national security at risk!
Update: On 4/21/25, additional information was leaked exposing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in another Signal chat scandal. News reports revealed that he was sharing sensitive military intel, including detailed operation plans in Yemen, in a chat with his wife, personal lawyer, and others. -----  In March, news broke that Jeffrey Goldberg, editor in chief of The Atlantic, was included in a Signal group chat with top-ranking Trump administration officials, where he then received messages discussing the upcoming military strikes in Yemen.  This compromised sensitive information, and while it might seem like a bad joke, the administration later confirmed the incident and addressed it as an "inadvertent oversight." Pete Hegseth, Trump's Secretary of Defense, updated the chat with details around the strikes in Yemen, including weapons, targets, and timing. We cannot have "oversights" like this when it comes to matters of national security. Anywhere else in the military, an offense like this would warrant some sort of accountability. The same and equal standards must apply to senior military leaders.  That's why there must be a congressional investigation to address this "oversight" immediately.
