  • Stop Deed Theft in Central Brooklyn: Protect Black Elderly Homeowners NOW
    Black elderly homeowners in Brooklyn are being targeted, displaced, and stripped of their homes through fraud and illegal evictions. We demand immediate emergency action. Black elderly homeowners in Central Brooklyn are facing a human rights crisis. Predatory actors are stealing homes through forged deeds, fraudulent contracts, coercive “family” transfers, and illegal lockouts. Black elderly women are being targeted at the highest rates. This crisis is ripping away generational wealth and destabilizing Bedford-Stuyvesant and Crown Heights. If this were happening to any other group, there would already be a state of emergency. We call on: Governor Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James, the NYC Commission on Human Rights, and the New York State Division of Human Rights to take immediate action to protect our elders and stop the theft of Black homes. We demand: 1. Declare a State of Emergency in Central Brooklyn This crisis requires coordinated, immediate intervention. 2. A Moratorium on All Contested Property Transfers Including intra-family disputes — until legal review and due process are completed. 3. Enforce Assembly Bill A7019 Financial institutions must place a temporary hold on suspicious transactions when elder exploitation is suspected. 4. Enforce RPAPL § 768 (New York’s Deed Theft Prevention Law) Illegal removals of seniors based on contested deeds must stop now. 5. Investigate and Prosecute Deed Thieves Aggressively Predatory investors, real estate entities, and individuals must be held accountable. 6. Provide Support for Victims Legal assistance, housing stabilization, and financial help for elders fighting to reclaim their homes.

  • Release $9.7 million in USAID birth control products so they can be distributed!
    The Trump administration must release the $9.7 million worth of birth control products they are blocking, originally intended to be distributed to clinics globally to aid in family planning.  The refusal to distribute the birth control—and refusal to release the birth control to nonprofit organizations or foreign governments to instead distribute—disproportionately affects impoverished women and families in countries like Tanzania, Mali, and Kenya. Aid workers are already warning that blocking birth control could lead to maternal death, unsafe abortions, and lifelong consequences from unplanned pregnancies.  The Trump administration must stop this cruelty and release the birth control NOW!

  • $30/class for CorePower instructors, $20/hour for cleaners, and deep-cleaned studios 4x year
    CorePower teachers and SET cleaners believe that CorePower can offer a fairer wage to their frontline employees, and that studios, including mats, need to be deep cleaned 4x a year. CorePower charges $31 for a drop-in class. While CorePower executives line their pockets, instructors are expected to create and teach a class, manage a register, and build CorePower communities on minimum wage. Shouldn't instructors share in the wealth they're creating? We're proposing a wage increase of $30/class plus $1 for every attendee after 10 attendees, similar to other boutique fitness studios like Club Pilates. Front desk time wage is open to negotiation.  Yoga is great for a healthy mind and body, but CorePower studios are dirty, dingy, and people are getting ringworm from mats that may never see a deep cleaning. SET team members are expected to clean up human feces and clean studios that are perpetually running out of cleaning supplies, particularly antibacterial and antimicrobial sprays and wipes. Shouldn't a core part of the CorePower experience be a clean, parasite-free studio, staffed by cleaners who are well-paid and have the necessary supplies to do their job? People put their bare hands and bare feet on these floors. We're proposing a wage increase of $20/hour for our SET team and a commitment to:  -deep cleaning corporate studios 4x a year -fixing whatever supply chain nonsense results in studios going weeks without cleaning supplies, including bleach.

    Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has openly pushed to turn the Pentagon into the “Department of War,” signaling an agenda of permanent aggression instead of genuine defense, diplomacy, and restraint. This framing sends a dangerous message: that projecting force and political bravado matter more than protecting human life, the rule of law, or democratic norms. Hegseth also lacks the professional history and credibility traditionally expected for this role. His appointment was driven by politics and media profile, not deep defense policy, management, or alliance experience, and his past record includes serious concerns about judgment, misconduct, and mismanagement.   • Say NO to Proposed Traffic Changes on Beechwood BLVD, Wilkins Ave, and S Linden Ave
    At a public meeting that will be held on December 8th 2025 at Linden School at 5:30pm, Pittsburgh’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI) will present its initial plan to change traffic patterns, make a portion of S Linden Ave one-way, restrict turns, remove parking spaces, and add pedestrian crosswalks, and bicycle infrastructure in the area of S Linden Ave, Wilkins Ave, and Beechwood Boulevard, in Squirrel Hill / Point Breeze. The plan has been designed as a “Quick-Build” and is set to be implemented in 2026. REGISTER FOR THE MEETING HERE! Read the City’s proposal here. Challenges with the current plans include: 1.    Fails to solve some of the most dangerous existing conditions. 2.    Further complicates already complicated intersections, increasing the likelihood for additional danger to all users. 3.    Prioritizes commuter traffic at the expense of local residents’ ability to navigate the neighborhood safely and conveniently. 4.    Removes street parking from the front of several homes and many businesses, negatively impacting safety and convenience for those residents, their guests, deliveries, and visitors to the businesses. 5.    Fails to provide safer pedestrian crossings to the existing PRT bus stops on Wilkins. 6.    Increases travel times for popular local routes. 7.    Re-routes traffic (school busses, residents’ vehicles, delivery vehicles, business patrons, etc.)  to smaller side streets (Hastings Street, Reynolds Street, Gettysburg Street, Fennimore Street, Edgerton Ave, Glen Arden Drive, Kingston Way, Elysian Street, S Dallas Ave, Conover Road, Sinnet Way, Selwyn Street, Lacy Way), that were not designed to handle this level of traffic. 8.    Does not take into consideration and does not include plans to reduce speeding toward and through the light at S Linden and the five-way intersection.

  • Petition to Halt the Proposed MAHANOY TWP. WAREHOUSE PROJECT On The Morea Road.
    We, the undersigned residents of Mahanoy Township and surrounding communities, respectfully petition township officials, the Schuylkill County Planning Commission, and all relevant authorities to delay, halt, or require further review of the planned 1.5-million-square-foot warehouse along Morea Road. Our Concerns  1. Environmental Impact The project will require extensive land clearing, destruction of local habitat, and long-term loss of green space. During and after construction, truck fleets, machinery, and facility operations will increase both noise and air pollution, reducing overall environmental quality for the region.  2. Harm to Nearby Homes and Families The warehouse will be built within approximately 300 yards of existing houses, placing residents extremely close to ongoing construction, bright industrial lighting, truck traffic, and 24/7 operations. This proximity threatens our peace, safety, property values, and quality of life.  3. Traffic and Safety Concerns Heavy tractor-trailer movement and increased vehicle flow on Morea Road and surrounding streets will strain already-burdened roadways and raise the risk of traffic accidents.  4. Lack of Transparency and Public Notification Although the project was originally approved the residents living next to the future site were never properly informed. No public outreach, mailed notices, or acknowledgment was offered to the homeowners most affected. Residents were not given the opportunity to voice concerns before decisions were made. Our Requests We call for one or more of the following actions:  • A halt to the project until a full environmental and community impact study is completed  • A public hearing with direct notification to nearby residents before further construction occurs  • A reevaluation of the site design, distance from homes, and traffic flow plans  • Consideration of alternative locations or mitigation requirements to protect residents Our Community, Our Voices We believe sustainable growth must be balanced with community health, environmental responsibility, and transparency. Decisions that dramatically affect residents should never be made without their knowledge and involvement. By signing this petition, we respectfully request that the Morea Road warehouse project not move forward without proper environmental review, open communication, and protections for the community.
