To: James Mattis, United States Secretary of Defense

Sec. Mattis: Reject the illegal use-of-force order, and bring the troops home now!

We demand you reject the White House's illegal order authorizing troops at the border to use lethal force and immediately end the deployment of troops at the U.S.-Mexico border. Our troops must not be authorized to hurt or kill those simply seeking safety and asylum at the border.

Why is this important?

The Trump administration just issued an order authorizing troops at the border to use deadly force against migrants. This is not only alarmingly dangerous, it violates the critical law that keeps the military completely separate from domestic law enforcement.

This is one of the most horrific things the Trump administration has ever done. Active-duty troops authorized to shoot people seeking refuge at the southern border not only terrorizes migrant families, it erodes our rule of law, and makes servicemembers political pawns. This is not just terrifying—it’s illegal and we cannot allow it to happen.

Sign now! Tell Sec. Mattis to make clear that U.S. troops cannot use any force against migrants. Period. Bring the troops home immediately.

Reasons for signing

  • The only reason we have a humanitarian crises is because the LiarInChief has created one. Ranting about criminals - rapists and drug runners is flat out wrong. In fact, more Americans rape, kill, steal or smuggle drugs then people trying to enter the country bc of danger in their homeland. What would cause YOU to abandon your homeland? Think about that, let it sink in.
  • I do not want to see Americans killing desperate people and their children at our border.
  • Everyone deserves peace in their home. If they do not have peace, they deserve to seek peace, without being met with violence.
