Support Youth Who Want Job Programs

Thursday, March 6 Illinois State Representative David Reis, urged a freeze of Chicago Anti-Violence State Funds. Subsequently the Sun-Times ran scathing articles blaming programs that saved lives as failures. We must STOP House Bill 6011, which halts any remaining Fiscal Year 2014 funding to the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority for grants associated with Chicago’s community-based violence prevention programs, and after school programs. Sign now to stop the madness!

Why is this important?

The media's focus on misuse of funding includes erroneous information and neglects to look at the good after school, summer and other work for teens and any unemployed group takes from such programming. We are seeking "Justice and Jobs."

Reasons for signing

  • KIDS NEED A REASON TO BE OFF THE STREETS. THEY NEED TO KNOW THEY ARE VALUED AND THAT THE PEOPLE IN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS REALLY DO CARE!!!
  • I was born and raised in Chicago. It is amazing to me how the city officials have let my hometown just go down. I am also the proud mother of my oldest son, who was also born there. He is now a sgt. in the United States Army. We visit home every chance we get. I would love for him to see the magnificent city that it once was when we lived there. The biggest problem today is, we are not paying enough attention to our youth. Positive programs for our youth is the best remedy for the problems....
  • I too am tired of the Racisist misrepresentation of Blacks as we strive create and utilize the same incentives that whites continue to use in Illinois every day...You don't get any more "clout driven than the tribune." I am sick of white folks getting mad when people of color utilize the "script they wrote!"
