In order to overcome Trump and the Republicans we need to understand the dangers posed by the movement Trump has initiated, unite all of the movements arrayed against Trump, and then build visions much stronger than before to overwhelm him. The visions can take the basic Democratic Party issues, and those of the Progressives like Bernie Sanders, and then we need to strengthen areas in which they are weak – namely Jobs & Economy, Defense, Trade, Finance, Tax Reform and Investment. That’s the only way we can win consistently and maintain a momentum for many decades!
Why is this important?
The Democratic Party lost the last election because they neglected their base of minorities and the working class, had weak internal democracy that discouraged many not to vote for the presidential candidate (87,000 Michigan voters did not select a president!), and did not have strong strategies on how to create better paying Industrial and other jobs, and very weak positions on Jobs & Economy, Trade, Tax Reform, Finance and Investment, and Defense (with Republicans typically maintaining the upper hand in this rhetoric). The Democratic Party (and Progressives) needs to be the party also of the right kind of Business that is pro-employment, pro-workers and pro-environment - ethical businessmen should be part of our base! We CANNOT leave this to the Republicans! We need these strengthened visions and need to add to these by making the rural areas and small towns blue, by having strong efforts for them and winning over our rural brothers and sisters! I wrote many emails and online messages to this effect to Hillary Clinton, but apparently did not get through!
