Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth hauled hundreds of top generals to Quantico for what one Pentagon official called a “total waste of money.” Trump used the gathering to claim he’s fighting an “invasion from within” and affirm his intentions to use “cities as training grounds for our military.” With Hegseth heading the Pentagon, Trump’s got a dangerously powerful lackey to do his bidding.   We knew Pete Hegesth was unfit to serve during his nomination process, and every day since he’s only proved us right. Impeachment is how Congress can check an out-of-control official who is abusing his power, threatening our democracy, and harming communities here and abroad. We can’t stay silent. 

Upwards of 100,000 people attend the Super Bowl, and the event is supposed to be a celebration of football and its fans, powered by thousands of workers who make it possible. The Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco should not be marked by Trump’s mass chaos, trauma, and detention.  Bad Bunny and his team already made the difficult decision to not tour his latest album Debí Tirar Más Fotos in the United States out of fear of ICE raids, and how they might use him and his concerts to kidnap and target his fans. But of course, the Trump administration is cruel, and doubled down by saying they’d have ICE at the Super Bowl. People on the ground in communities most impacted by Trump’s authoritarian militarized takeover are uniting to fight back, and doing everything they can to protect their neighbors and loved ones. Local elected officials like Alderwoman Jessie Fuentes are putting their bodies on the line to defend their constituents. Bad Bunny is an artist who has been very outspoken about injustice and has used his music and platform to advocate for our communities. He has also been vocally against Trump and his immigration policies, and in 2024, he spoke out against a speaker at Trump’s rally when he disgustingly called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.” He has been a fierce advocate for Puerto Rican rights and independence because Puerto Rico is a colony of the U.S. and the people of Puerto Rico have constantly been failed, especially by Trump, his administration, and its harmful policies. Eight years ago, Puerto Ricans were devastated by Hurricanes Maria and Irma, and families were displaced and abandoned, the entire island was left without power for 11 months (the longest blackout in US history), many were left without water, and thousands died from neglect from those in power. The people of Puerto Rico deserve better. Together, we can continue fighting for all of our communities and keeping each other safe, one step at a time. The NFL must take this step too, to stop ICE from targeting people at their Super Bowl. Will you add your name to the petition?

This case is being pushed by the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), whose record of anti-LGBTQ+ activism includes supporting the criminalization of consensual LGBTQ+ relationships, defending state-sanctioned sterilization of transgender people abroad, fighting to ban books about LGBTQ+ people, blocking life-saving care for transgender people, and spreading hurtful falsehoods about LGBTQ+ communities. ADF’s extremist agenda would erase LGBTQ+ people from public life and gut vital protections for children and families. Conversion therapy is NOT medical care—it is abuse masquerading as treatment. Survivors routinely report lasting psychological damage, while scientific reviews and countless testimonies show that these “therapies” do not change anyone’s identity but do cause immense suffering.  No free speech claim or “voluntary practice” justifies allowing therapists to inflict grave harm on vulnerable kids. Colorado’s law, like those in other states, simply prohibits licensed professionals from using their role to push predetermined outcomes of denying a young person’s authentic self. It does not ban supportive counseling; it protects youth from dangerous, distressing, and disproven tactics. State power to regulate licensed healthcare exists to keep patients safe—not empower ideological crusades.

The President  is trying to take away America's Free speech rights that are embedded in the Constitution.  Trump has weaponized the FCC and it's Director to threaten and coerce broadcasters into submitting to his demands only because he doesn't like what HE hears, usually about himself. HBCUs have played a critical role in our nation's history. For over two centuries, HBCUs have opened doors that were closed elsewhere to Black Americans, providing them with a world-class education within the safety of community. Renowned figures like Martin Luther King Jr., Toni Morrison, Thurgood Marshall, Rosa Parks, and former Vice President Kamala Harris are all HBCU alumni, and each has had a profound impact on our country. Their contributions are proof of how essential these institutions are to America’s past, present, and future. At a time where political violence is on the rise, the Justice Department must launch a full investigation into these threats. Now is the time to make clear that intimidation, hate, and violence have no place in our country. 

You likely remember the horrifying images from CECOT, El Salvador’s notorious mega-prison: detainees stripped and forced to kneel, surrounded by armed guards in riot gear. That includes hundreds of men who the U.S. government deported without due process, based on unproven allegations that they were members of a Venezuelan gang. Men like 19-year-old Carlos Daniel Terán, who told NPR how he was dragged from his cell, beaten, and sexually assaulted. He called CECOT “hell on earth” — and a troubling secret memo details how U.S. tax dollars paid for the torture he and others experienced. It may not surprise you that the Trump administration signed off on a multi-million dollar deal that turns a blind eye to some of the worst human rights abuses imaginable. The horrific reality is that things could get worse yet: Right now, the Trump administration is working to expand third-country deportations to as many as 58 countries. It’s unconscionable. But as soon as this week, Senator Tim Kaine will force votes on a package of SIX game changing resolutions that would require the State Department to provide human rights reports on South Sudan, Rwanda, Eswatini, Costa Rica, Panama, and Mexico — places the Trump administration is currently deporting people. The clock is ticking, and we have the narrowest window of opportunity to build enough support to pass Senator Kaine’s resolutions and help ensure no one faces the abuse that Terán and others experienced.

Turning Point USA targets minority groups and supports the “MRS” degree. The MRS degree is the belief woman go to college seeking marriage. Meredith College is founded on the principle women are entitled to education like anyone else. Do not let them weaken our community and commitment to keeping women educated! The fundamental values of Constitutional free speech guaranteed by the First Amendment have been stabbed in the heart by this illegal and false attack censoring Jimmy Kimmel.  He told the truth about the dishonest misconduct of the Trump administration in their entirely false and misleading propaganda about the death of Charlie Kirk. Having the federal government threaten a network to censor speech is precisely what the First Amendment prohibits and this action threatens the very nature of our American Democracy.
