  • UBER & Lyft: Protect your drivers in this pandemic!
UBER and Lyft drivers are on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic, shuttling people back and forth who still need to go to work and get groceries. But UBER and Lyft have yet to extend protections their drivers can actually take, including sick days and paid leave. And these companies aren’t providing the drivers who do want to keep working with adequate sanitary supplies. That means drivers might feel forced to work when they feel ill, or when their family members are sick and need care. These drivers are taking care of us during this pandemic, and the companies they work for need to take care of them by providing critical benefits that protect them, their families, passengers, and communities.

  • Prioritize the Safety and Health of ALL, Regardless of Immigration Status, in Coronavirus Response
As the coronavirus continues to spread and cause harm, undocumented families face harsh risks as they seek to care for their loved ones and seek access to health care. Currently, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) continue to target undocumented people in our community. As a result of fearmongering and misinformation, AAPI individuals in our communities have been harassed, racially profiled, and physically attacked. But now is the time for unity and protection for all our people, regardless of immigration status. We join together to reject xenophobia and racism, which only worsen the effects of the pandemic and put immigrants at harm. Together, we demand that this administration and government at all levels respond swiftly and universally to protect and support everyone, including undocumented immigrants. We know that this is an evolving situation, but time is of the essence. We must take up solutions that center public health needs and that would immediately have a positive impact on immigrants thereby extending to the health of our nation as we pursue a course of action to “flatten the curve.” The following demands are not exhaustive and are likely to expand as we get new information: Please join with us to demand that President Trump: Suspend ALL immigration enforcement activities and operations. DHS must suspend deportations, immigration arrests, mass raids, detentions and enforcement in sensitive locations. Provide Free COVID-19 testing, treatment, and services for ALL, regardless of immigration status. Black, brown, undocumented and low income communities are more vulnerable to health and economic crises. Additional supports and/or stimuli that shore up the safety net and the economic security of those most in need–from food stamps to rent/housing assistance to unemployment insurance to paid leave among others–should be universally accessible without triggering any immigration penalties. Guarantee safe conditions and provide healthcare, testing and support to protect those in detention and prisons. Add your name now to ensure all people, regardless of immigration status, have access to care and support to face the COVID-19 pandemic!

  • COVID-19 Emergency Rent and Debt Forgiveness in St. Louis
As a group, the working class of St. Louis have been financially crippled by the critical and necessary measures put in place to slow the spread of COVID-19. Though the federal or state government may eventually provide relief, the immediate conservation of our limited financial resources is necessary for our own and our family's health and well-being. Renters, Leasors, banks and other relevant institutions can, as a class seek their own relief; the state and federal government is much more responsive and historically more likely to act on their behalf. We must protect our limited cash flow immediately.

  • McDonald’s: Give Workers Paid Leave Protections Now
Hundreds of thousands of McDonald’s front-line employees are facing an impossible decision in the midst of the worsening COVID-19 crisis: Keep our jobs or maintain their health. Dozens of McDonald’s workers in 14 states have contracted the virus and in a recent survey 22 percent of McDonald’s workers report they have gone to work feeling sick during the COVID-19 pandemic because of a lack of paid sick leave, fear of management retaliation for missing shifts or because they simply cannot afford to miss a paycheck. McDonald’s slow, inadequate and irresponsible response in this crisis has placed us, our families and customers at risk. It’s well past time that McDonald’s use its vast resources to be a leader on behalf of us— the workers who contribute so much to the corporation’s brand, reputation, and profits. We must make it clear that if McDonald’s wishes to be seen as a leader in the fast-food industry after this crisis, then it needs to lead from the front and put worker safety and public health first. No one should have to choose between their health or their livelihoods. Together, we can hold them accountable: Sign our petition today and urge McDonald’s to mandate paid sick and family leave protections for all workers now.

  • Investigate the Trump Administration's Coronavirus Corruption and Mismanagement
The coronavirus outbreak is already putting a strain on health systems, disrupting public life, and impacting people across the country. As holder of the highest office in the land, Donald Trump should be doing whatever he can to ensure public health. But he's done just the opposite: Instead of looking out for our safety, Trump has consistently prioritized protecting corporate profits over fighting the outbreak. The number of missteps and the level of corruption in the administration's coronavirus response are staggering. From hiring a drug company executive and medicine price gouger as Secretary of Health and Human Services, to resisting making treatments affordable, Trump is looking out for the bottom line of corporations, not public health. Enough is enough. Congress must step in and investigate how Donald Trump’s loyalty to corporate CEOs over working families is putting lives at risk. Here's just some of what we've learned over the past couple of weeks: First, The Washington Post reported that Trump's main concern has been the falling stock market. He's even urged his aides not to make any comments that might negatively impact stocks--potentially causing top officials to withhold critical information from the public. Then, Trump's appointed secretary of health and human services, Alex Azar—a former pharma executive—refused to commit to compelling pharmaceutical companies to ensure that any future vaccine would be affordable. Azar has a history of price gouging: While he was president of Eli Lily, the cost of the company's life saving insulin drug tripled. Now, reports show that the coronavirus funding package was actually a giant giveaway to drug companies, which failed to guarantee fair pricing for new treatments. Just as he’s done time and time again, Trump is showing whose side he’s really on—that of corporations and the wealthy—and once again, it’s having a potentially devastating impact on people and families across the country. And what we know publicly so far could just be the tip of the iceberg. Given Trump's record, it's likely that there's even more corruption and mismanagement waiting to be uncovered. Congress has the opportunity to publicly expose all of this, but it may not happen if we don’t urge them to take action. Sign the petition and demand that Congress investigate Trump’s botched coronavirus response.

  • Richard Burr must resign for profiting from coronavirus info
In mid-February, while Donald Trump was telling the country that the coronavirus was a "hoax" and "no big deal," Sen. Richard Burr was telling members of the "Tar Heel Circle" to prepare for the worst. The "Tar Heel Circle" is a private group that promises access to legislators, with membership fees up to $10,000. He told the members that the coronavirus would be worse than the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918, which killed more than 50 million people worldwide. Meanwhile, Burr sold up to $1.5 million in stock, partly in hotel chains, which he knew would take a big hit once people were forced to cancel trips and vacations. This is akin to insider trading! Burr used information he was specifically privy to as a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee to help donors and line his pockets--but he didn't warn his constituents. He put all of his constituents at more risk. Burr has committed an unforgivable transgression as our representative, and we need to tell him to resign immediately. https://www.newsobserver.com/news/coronavirus/article241330126.html?utm_source=pushly&intcid=pushly_496965 https://www.newsobserver.com/opinion/article241334586.html

  • Tell Gov. De Santis and Sen. Scott to freeze rents
Most people live by their budget and soaring prices for rent and mortgages make housing the biggest cost. This is unsustainable in this crisis when all we have is our retirement checks some have their children helping them before this even happen. and so many people live from paycheck to paycheck. As a group, the working-class of Florida have been financially crippled by the critical and necessary measures put in place to slow the spread of coronavirus. Though the federal or state government may eventually provide relief, the immediate conservation of our limited financial resources are necessary for our own and our family's health and well being. Renters, lessors, banks and other relevant institutions can, as a class seek their own relief; the state and the federal government are much more responsive and historically more likely to act on their behalf. We must protect our limited cash flow, ensure people can keep their homes, and protect credit ratings immediately.

  • No Chase overdraft fees during coronavirus pandemic
Our country and our communities are feeling the economic impact of the coronavirus in the most devastating ways. My family is feeling it as well. I recently overdrew my account due to extra expenses for preparing for my state's "stay at home" order and having just started a new job. Instead of providing relief during this time, Chase charged two overdraft fees for a total of sixty eight dollars. In this time of unprecedented crisis, JP Morgan Chase bank must do their part to ease the financial strain of this pandemic for their customers. They were bailed out in 2008 and again will inevitably reap the reward of the two trillion dollar stimulus package which favors banks and large corporations. The deep economic impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus is just beginning, and we cannot make middle-class and lower-class consumers bear the burden. Ten million people have filed for unemployment in the last two weeks, and we not even through the worst of this global pandemic, let alone the profound longterm economic impact. There is no recourse for consumers, however, as they try to get through this economic turmoil and global pandemic and provide for their families. It's unacceptable that JPMorgan Chase continue to make money off the backs of those that are struggling to make their rent, pay their utilities, and purchase groceries for their loved ones.
