They locked us out and fired usI got fired just for speaking my mind about my working conditions. That's not just wrong, it's illegal. I've worked as a Cablevision/Optimum Technician for more than 6 years. A year ago, my coworkers and I voted to form a union, so we could have a voice on the job. But a year has come and gone, and Cablevision/Optimum management hasn't negotiated in good faith for a contract. Along with my co-workers, I asked to talk to my managers. They say they have an "open door" policy, but when we wanted to talk, they said they were too busy. Then they fired 22 of us, telling us we were "permanently replaced". They locked us out and fired us for speaking out about working conditions. That's illegal and just plain wrong. I'm without my paycheck just as my rent is going up. I have two children, Alexis and Rayshawn, one of whom has had serious medical care needs which has left us with a stack of bills. Meanwhile, Cablevision's CEO, James Dolan, made $11.5 million last year alone. Stand with me by signing my petition to urge Cablevision/Optimum to reinstate me and all of my coworkers.85,651 of 100,000 SignaturesCreated by La'kesia Johnson

Tell Congress: We Can't Afford to Outsource More JobsCorporate lobbyists have been pushing for special rules in order to rush the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal through Congress. If they succeed, it will mean a loss of U.S. jobs and pressure to hold wages down for those that remain. The Trans-Pacific Partnership is being negotiated in secret, but negotiators are making big claims about boosting U.S. exports. We've been down this road before. The reality is that deals like this make it easier for corporations to keep wages low by trading U.S. jobs to the lowest bidder. Now corporate lobbyists want Congress to help speed things along by authorizing Trade Promotion Authority, a special set of "fast-track" rules for the deal so that it can be pushed through without allowing time for close review, debate or amendments, and guaranteed a quick vote in both the House and Senate. It's no wonder the corporate lobby doesn't want Congress to take a close look at what's been going on behind the closed door of the negotiations. The deal gives special rights and benefits to companies that offshore investment and jobs and allows multinational corporations to sue governments if they legislate improvements in environmental, labor, consumer or health standards that might impact future corporate profits. Please take action today and tell your member of Congress to stand up to this corporate power grab and vote NO on fast track authorization for the Trans-Pacific Partnership.51,789 of 75,000 SignaturesCreated by Larry Cohen, CWA President

Support Striking Verizon WorkersWe are on strike because we will do whatever it takes to create a better workplace for ourselves and those that follow. We're standing together to make sure the needs of working families are met, instead of standing by as a handful of individuals get richer and richer. We're standing together because Verizon has fired, threatened, and intimidated working people at Verizon Wireless who are trying to create a better future for themselves and their families. We're standing together because we want to earn a living in our own communities instead of moving away from our homes and our families. We want good jobs to stay in the United States, not be sent overseas. We're standing together to make sure that working people at Verizon like us can not just make a good living, but also have a good life. Let Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam know that you stand with us.36,151 of 40,000 SignaturesCreated by Jennifer Masferrer and Isaac Collazo

Stand with Momentive Workers on StrikeWe've been on strike at Momentive Performance Materials in Waterford, NY since November 2 to save good jobs and stop Wall Street greed from destroying our community. Stand with us! Our jobs have been good jobs for decades, but hedge fund billionaires are trying to destroy them to line their own pockets, hurting working families. One of the billionaires who has been driving down our standard of living is Stephen Schwarzman. And Schwarzman isn't just any Wall Street billionaire - he chairs President Donald Trump's “Strategic and Policy Forum," which is supposed to help create good jobs. Surely if Schwarzman really cares about preserving and creating good jobs in places like Waterford he should stand with us to stop the pay and benefit cuts, support good jobs and put working people before Wall Street greed. Protect your right to free speech online.Corporations and their political allies are trying to prevent the Senate from confirming President Obama's nominees to the National Labor Relations Board. Why? So that they won't have to worry about the laws that protect your rights at work, including your right to use Facebook, Twitter and other online forums on your own time to discuss things like unreasonable hours, a bad boss, or other workplace problems. You see, the National Labor Relations Board enforces the National Labor Relations Act, the law that protects the right of private sector workers to discuss their working conditions and try to make things better. The NLRB makes sure that workers get their jobs back if they have been illegally fired for airing their opinions of their employers on social networks. Republicans plan to stop the NLRB from enforcing the law by abusing the Senate rules and using silent filibusters to prevent confirmation of President Obama’s nominees. The Democratic majority has the power to close the loopholes in the Senate rules to stop these filibusters on qualified nominees. But they will only act if we demand action. Sign the petition to demand that the Senate take the necessary steps confirm all five members of the National Labor Relations Board.23,133 of 25,000 SignaturesCreated by Beth Allen

It's Time for Trade Policies that Work for EveryoneWhen it comes to the future of the global economy, you've been shut out. When American negotiators decide what matters during trade agreements, they consult with big corporations, not the American public. These corporations are using these secret negotiations to make an end run around Congress so that they can ship even more jobs overseas, devastate the environment, drive up health care costs and repeal critical consumer protections on Wall Street. They've shut all of us out of the negotiating room, but that doesn't mean we won’t be heard. Our trade agreements should lift us up, not drag us down in a race to the bottom. Our trade agreements should put high standards for wages and working conditions, environmental and consumer protection first instead of trying to maximize corporate profits and power. Sign this petition today to let your members of Congress know that it's time for 21st century global trade policies that work for everyone.7,071 of 8,000 SignaturesCreated by Beth Allen

Support the Fight for Good Jobs at AT&TAT&T CEO Randall Stephenson made a promise to invest in his workforce and create at least 7,000 jobs if the tax bill passed. Well, the bill did pass, and AT&T received a $20 billion windfall. But instead of creating jobs, AT&T has laid off over a thousand workers across the country in the past few months. And the company keeps sending work to low-wage and overseas contractors, devastating families and communities across America. AT&T workers are fighting back. CWA members at AT&T Midwest and AT&T’s national Legacy T division are fighting for fair union contracts and have voted to strike if necessary to secure a deal that guarantees good jobs, affordable healthcare, and a secure retirement.2,921 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by CWA

Oregonian: Thanks for balanced TPP coverageAt a time when much of the media has bowed to pressure from the White House and kept a tight lid on discussion of the controversial and secretive Trans-Pacific Partnership Trade agreement, the Portland Oregonian has been brave enough to shine a light on the issue. By publishing my Op-Ed on the TPP (see: http://www.oregonlive.com/opinion/index.ssf/2013/11/what_you_dont_know_about_the_t.html), Oregonian publisher Christian Anderson has demonstrated his respect for the principles of objective journalism, and his willingness to foster an open and public dialogue on local, national and international issues of importance to his readers. I would like to thank him, to encourage him to continue this noble effort, and to encourage other newspapers to follow his example.217 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Madelyn Elder
