Joy Reid and MSNBC: Apologize for Anti-Muslim BigotryMuslims have been gunned down in their homes and houses of worship by people who believe in the very same hateful, false smears that Reid shared on her program. This is a longstanding pattern of Reid’s, who has spread anti-Muslim bigotry on her blog in the past and continues to do so on her platform on MSNBC today.18,340 of 20,000 SignaturesCreated by Muslim Advocates

Tell Hyatt Hotels to Stop Hosting HateACT for America has led “marches against Sharia” during Ramadan, falsely claimed that Islam is a “political ideology masquerading as a religion,” and that “no practicing Muslim can be a loyal American.” To make matters worse, while other major hospitality companies including Hilton, Airbnb, Sofitel, and the Willard Hotel refused to host hate groups and disassociated their organizations with bigots, Hyatt is welcoming ACT with open arms, and actively associating itself with dangerous anti-Muslim ideology. But we have the power to stop this. If we raise our voices, we can tell Hyatt loud and clear that we won’t stand for hate — not in our homes, not in our hotels, and not in our nation. Hyatt has “justified” hosting the conference by claiming it “does not unlawfully discriminate against groups who wish to hold lawful meetings at the hotel.” But Hyatt is distorting civil rights laws — there are no laws in Virginia or at the federal level that require a hotel to host a hate group like ACT for America.42,804 of 45,000 SignaturesCreated by Scott Simpson

Tell GOP Leadership to Stop Attacking Muslim CongresswomenAs an American, I'm offended when people try to politicize 9/11. I'm deeply offended when people try to politicize global human rights atrocities suffered by Jewish people. There's a clear right wing anti-Muslim agenda that tries to paint American Muslims as anti-Semitic, anti-LGBTQ, and pro-terrorism. They are trying to divide Americans--and progressives in particular--and it's up to allies to speak up and speak out against this bigotry when we see it.1,287 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Scott Simpson, Muslim Advocates

FBI: Start taking white nationalist violence on houses of worship seriously.Because something must be done in the aftermath of the massacres in New Zealand, at the Tree of Life Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, at the Sikh Temple of Oak Creek, Wisconsin and the firebombing of the Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington, Minnesota. These headline-making attacks are just a few of the many on houses of worship in recent years. Muslim Advocates and our partners need the FBI to take this threat seriously and devote sufficient attention and resources to understanding, preventing and investigating the white nationalist threat.10,077 of 15,000 SignaturesCreated by Muslim Advocates

Concrete action needed in the wake of New Zealand massacreIt is not enough for President Trump to merely send thoughts and prayers. The President called neo-nazis and white nationalists ‘very fine people.’ This hate-filled murderer drew inspiration from Trump, and the white nationalist movement has celebrated Trump’s words and policies. The President needs to immediately and unequivocally condemn and disavow this attacker and the white nationalist movement. Elected officials and law enforcement must do more to protect our community and all Americans from the white nationalist threat by calling on FBI Director Christopher Wray to prioritize the prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of right-wing, white nationalist violence—the most significant threat to public safety in our nation today. Social media platforms and tech companies like Facebook, Twitter and Google need to do much more to detect and shut down online hate content. The New Zealand shooter was able to livestream a 17-minute video of his murderous rampage that continues to spread like wildfire online. This is flatly unacceptable. Tech companies must take all steps possible to prevent something like this from happening again. Further, hate groups have long used platforms like Facebook to organize, spread their violent messages and build their membership online. Facebook needs to do more to remove these hate groups before they inspire even more harm. With historic levels of hate crimes motivated by anti-Muslim bigotry in recent years here in the U.S., American Muslims have sadly been through so much. We will not allow this attack or this hate movement to prevent any of us from going about our daily lives, including attending our houses of worship and engaging with our communities. Together, with allied Americans of faith and goodwill, we will persevere and we will defeat hate.1,526 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Muslim Advocates

Tell Facebook: Stop putting profits over our rightsFor years, Facebook has allowed the use of its platform to promote bigotry and potentially violate civil rights, allowing operatives to promote misleading propaganda and hate groups to organize and promote rallies on their platform. They’ve even gone as far as selling ads that could violate the Fair Housing Act and offered their expertise and assistance in spreading anti-Muslim videos. While recent leaks and news reports have revealed some of the problem, Facebook has evaded requests for full transparency and disclosure from groups like Muslim Advocates and our partners at Color of Change. Facebook claims to be dedicated to giving people “the power to build community and bring the world closer together”, yet they have refused to adequately address their repeated breaches of the public trust. They have shown they cannot be trusted to be fully transparent on their own and must immediately allow an audit of their policies and platforms by an independent third-party.578 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Kendall Brown
