18 for military but not tobacco?
I want them to revert the legal age of buying tobacco back to 18 instead of 21.
Why is this important?
This is important because people that have already become addicted to cigarettes, cigars, snuff, chewing tobacco and vaping will have to cold turkey which has been proven to potentially cause hazards to their health. Its also not a fair law to a lot of the citizens, I know countless students going straight from high school to the military, oilfield or mines. From personal experience working in oilfields/mines since I was 18 those 30+ hours days and what oilfielders face is incredibly stressful and tiring. Nicotine can help those workers stay awake where they can't drink any energy drinks at all because several companies in Gillette do not allow energy drinks so it keeps oilfielders calm and cool headed as well as awake. The impact on energy production could potentially decrease heavily if 18 year olds in the oilfield can't perform safely and get injured and or killed. Its also an unfair law because if a person is old enough to defend their country and people they should be able to come back home and have a cigarette with family or friends. My main question is how do they plan on containing the age to 21? All individuals that know anyone 21 or older still have access to tobacco all a person has to do is ask a parent or friend or partner. This law is completely pointless, the law should be directed towards juuls, homemade vape products and homemade THC products. The homemade products are incredibly dangerous because they are not made correctly and people can put anything in them. Juuls are extremely dangerous because one Juul pod is equivalent to 20 cigarettes being smoked at once according to truth initiative. They also contain benzoic acid which an FDA approved vape juice doesn't. The vape juice i use is made by trained professionals and sold all over the USA my entire 60 ml bottle contains 36 mg of nicotine in total. I have been vaping since I turned 18 and I haven't seen any sign of health problems caused by my vaping. I know several people that have been vaping for 5+ years and have no sign of health problems. Its not the broad spectrum of vaping that's the problem its the salt nic, juuls and homemade juices that is the problem. This law also got 10 people I know of fired from a job because they weren't old enough to use it so they weren't old enough to sell it. Its completely unfair to teenager starting out and trying to avoid drugs and alcohol. Not all people wanna start their career path in fast food like many in the past and vape stores and gas stations are great starting jobs so this law is forcing teenagers starting out Into very specific jobs. When I first turned 18 I had a child on the way and fast food wouldn't cut it so I went to gas stations and made enough to take care of my family so anyone in a similar situation might be in trouble for the simple fact that they can't sell tobacco or use tobacco in general.
