A Just End to the Guantanamo Hunger Strike
We stand in solidarity with the Guantanamo Bay detainees, condemn the use of force-feeding, and demand that President Obama help end the hunger strike by addressing the legitimate grievances of detainees and begin transferring out the 86 detainees approved for release but still in detention.
Why is this important?
For the past two months, an increasing number of Guantanamo Bay detainees have been on a hunger strike concerning unjust conditions in the camp and their indefinite detention. Now over one hundred detainees are on hunger strike and over two dozen are being force-fed on orders of the US government, a form of cruel and inhumane treatment. To help pressure the Obama Administration to respond to detainee grievances and begin the transfer of those already approved for release, a growing number of US citizens are joining in solidarity hunger fasts, too.
