Why is this important?
Equinox Fitness owned by The Related Company just launched the new 2015 "New Direction" campaign, and thousands of Equinox members feel that they are being discriminated against because of age and body shape.
Group Fitness classes catering to the 40+ members are being cut and replaced in with Equinox signature "Boot Camp" style classes.
Employees over 40 have been let go by Equinox as they do not fit into the 'new direction'. Managers, trainers and group fitness instructors were fired despite success and popularity and despite the following protest by members.
Any attempt to contact the head office has either been ignored or those who did get a response were provided with false information by Equinox upper management, such as COO Scott Rosen.
The main director and designer of this 'New Direction' campaign, Sarah O'Hagan, is a busy mummy and never responds. She says you can contact her on twitter. But guess what, she never responds.
Not learning the lessons from prior campaigns in 2013 when member protested against racy and discriminating ads #notably in front of the day care#, Equinox headquarter is continuing with advertising age and body type discriminating posters and firing 40+ year old employees in 2015.
