After what just happened in Oklahoma with the Tornado's, and so many children losing their innocent lives, it is a travesty that all schools in this country do not have a room or building engineered to protect our children and teachers from just such a situation. Here in Florida our schools must meet rigid hurricane standards. Why are schools in the Tornado belt not required to have similar standards? Our children lives are well worth the added costs. This needs to be changed so that every school is required to have a place that will protect our most precious resources and future, our children and those entrusted to teach them!
Why is this important?
No parents should have to go through what the parents that lost their children to the Tornado's in Oklahoma are going through. A parent should be confident that when they send their children off to school that they will be protected and that there is safe place within every school for them to go to in an emergency. A room that is engineered to protect our children and our teachers.
