Amy Wickes' Legacy: In the Name of Justice
Phase one of the new Franklin County Jail is nearing completion and phase two shall begin early this summer. The new jail will incorporate a dedicted section for women and a detox facility. We would like one of these two new spaces to be named in honor of Amy.
Why is this important?
The female only pod of the jail is designed to expand programming aimed at reducing rates of recidivism. Amy worked tirelessly to inform the public of the poor conditions at the "God Awful Franklin County Jail". She knew our system needed major reformation to reduce recidivism rates and advocated for the very same solutions being implemented by the courts and built into this new jail. Amy’s message of decency, justice and morality had a lasting impact and deserves a permanent place of recognition. We cannot think of a more appropriate way to do just that, so we hope you will support our efforts by signing this petition, which will be presented to the Franklin County Board of Commissioners for consideration.
