An appeal to Congress to act against tyranny!

Dear members of Congress, 

This is a cry from the heart of a breaking republic.The American people need you to find the courage to do what is right. It is time to remember who you are. Not politicians beholding to lobbyists, but guardians of democracy, sworn defenders of our Constitution, because now our Constitution is in real crisis. Yesterday, the president of the United States broke the law openly and brazenly. He spit in the face of the Supreme Court of the United States and dared for any of us to stop him. He is no longer hiding in the shadows, but he is ruling this way in broad daylight surrounded by yes-men and lies.

He deported a legal immigrant, a man with a wife and with children, a man with no criminal record in the US or in El Salvador. He was kidnapped, disappeared, and locked away in notorious prison in El Salvador, without any due process. And now this president says he also wants  deport American citizens.

That’s right American citizens! And with no trial, no due process, but with raw unfettered and unchecked power! That is not leadership. That is tyranny, and you are the last line of our defense! 

I often think of the day of Trump‘s second inauguration, beneath the Dome that once stood defiant in the face of his last attempt to seize such power. On that day in that sacred place, he swore his oath to the Constitution, but not with his hand on the Bible! I knew in that moment that he never meant a single word of “I will protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

So I am appealing to you now to remember your own oath of office. You swore to defend the Constitution from all enemies, both foreign and domestic. Well here it is sitting in the oval office tearing at the seams of our beloved  Republic.  This is your moment and I am BEGGING you to please meet it with bravery and with action. The Constitution cannot lift itself. Democracy does not walk on its own legs. It needs you now! Impeach him! Remove him! Not for politics, but for the people, for the rule of law and for every single child who still believes that this country really means the promises laid out by our Founding Fathers in our Constitution! Do not be remembered as cowards, but be remembered as the Congress that chose country over chaos, democracy over dictatorship, and oath over office. The future is watching and you  will be remembered for what you do in this moment throughout history!
