To: The Honorable Kristina Box, MD, FACOG, Indiana State Health Commissioner and Jackie Walorski, House Representative, Indiana District 2
Hands Off Our Healthcare Access
We the undersigned support the opening of the Whole Women's Health Clinic in South Bend, Indiana. We believe women should have access to safe and legal abortions and not be forced to travel across state lines for reproductive health care.
Why is this important?
Now more than ever we need your help here in South Bend! We Congresswoman Jackie Walorski has launched a vicious attack on our reproductive rights by personally contacting the Indiana State Health Commissioner and requested that she deny South Bend a new health clinic.
70% of Americans believe women should have access to safe and legal abortions. With increasing medically-unnecessary regulations that impose an undue burden on a woman’s access to abortion, Indiana patients are forced to travel across state lines for the nearest clinic, turning them into medical refugees.
Use of contraception, especially the most effective methods like IUDs and implants, does much more to reduce abortion rates than restrictive laws and denial of care.
Recently, a non-profit organization that is committed to providing holistic reproductive health options, to include abortion care, as well as leading communities in advocacy, culture change, and education to eradicate abortion stigma has stepped forward in our community and they are ready to open a clinic in South Bend, Indiana.
"We the undersigned support the legal and safe access to all forms of Reproductive Healthcare in South Bend, Indiana and ask Rep. Walorski to respect our bodies, our rights, and our choices. We believe women should become medical refugees by being forced to travel across state lines for reproductive health care."
