Ask President Biden to pardon DACA participants

Dear President Biden,
President Obama created a policy called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), calling for deferred action for certain undocumented young people who came to the U.S. as children. This provided temporary legal protection to allow time for Congress to pass the legislation that would provide a pathway to citizenship. Congress failed to do this and President Trump started phasing out DACA in 2017. You issued an executive order reinstating DACA. Unfortunately that is in serious jeopardy. A Federal court ruled it unlawful although the decision was stayed while during the appeals process.

You have a brief opportunity to resolve this issue. Grant a pardon to all DACA participants for the only crime they have committed – illegally entering the United States of America without a visa. This simple act would give them legal residency status and open the door for them to pursue citizenship.

Your time is short. Please act now.

Why is this important?

DACA participants were brought to our country as children by their families. They have grown up here. In many cases, this is the only country they have ever known. They have been law abiding residents in this country for years. Granting them legal residency status is all they need to safely continue their life here.
