Why is this important?
Targeted by the American government for exposing its crimes, Julian Assange currently awaits the decision of the Ecuadorian government for his petition for asylum in that country. As can be imagined, Ecuador is under tremendous pressure to deny that petition and evict Assange from its London embassy where he has sought refuge.
