Require Massachusetts pet stores to only sell rescued animals by banning the sale of so called “purebred” animals coming from any out of state breeders or puppy mills.
Why is this important?
Pet stores have no vetting process and can and will sell a dog to anyone with the funds. They are selling puppy mill dogs and unhealthy animals to consumers. I recently rescued a golden retriever who came from a horrific breeder in Minnesota. We need to make sure these pet store are only selling rescue animals from non profit rescues.
