Ban Assault Weapons To Curb Gun Violence!
Military-style assault weapons aren't used for sport or self-defense; they are weapons of mass violence that we've seen turn schools, movie theaters, nightclubs and other public spaces into scenes of unspeakable horror, and there's no reason they should be sold to civilians.
From Newtown to Orlando to Las Vegas to Sutherland Springs, we've seen what military assault weapons can do in the hands of unstable people. Enough is enough. It's time to ban these weapons of war from our neighborhoods. It’s time for us to take commonsense steps that we know can prevent gun violence and save lives.
Congress is quick to hold moments of silence after mass shootings, but they've done nothing to combat gun violence in America. That's unconscionable. I'm going to keep fighting to push my colleagues in Congress for real action that will make our communities safer for everyone in America.
It's time for Congress to stand up to the NRA and ban the sale of assault weapons!

Why is this important?
More than 37,000 Americans were killed by a gun last year, including suicides. And yet Congress has done nothing to address the gun violence epidemic.
Enough is enough. It's time for Congress to stand up to the gun lobby.
