Beirut Marine Families Petition

I respectfully ask our leaders in Congress to stand with the families of the fallen Marine families.

In 1983 Iran directed terrorists in Lebanon to do something “spectacular” against the Marines. They did and 241 American Marines died in the attack on the Marine Barracks in Beirut.

In 1996, Congress changed the law to allow state sponsors of terrorism to be sued in American Courts. In 2002, the survivors and families of the fallen Marines won a judgment against Iran for $2.6 billion.

Recently, investigators found $1.8 billion of Iran’s money in a frozen bank account in the United States.

Twin bills have been introduced in Congress. HR 4070 and S.2101 direct that those funds that belonged to Iran that have been frozen in a New York Bank be given to satisfy the judgment against Iran and not be sent back to Iran.

I stand with the fallen Marines of the Beirut Marine Barracks. I stand with their families. I stand with the Marines who survived that Terrorist attack.

I do not want that money going back to Iran so it can be used for terrorist attacks against the west.

Our Marines live by the slogan “Semper fi!” Always faithful.

Our nation needs now to be always faithful to those fallen Marines who gave so much for our nation.

I ask that HR 4070 and S.2101 be passed immediately and sent to the President for his signature.
