Bring Back Joy Reid!

MSNBC has canceled “The ReidOut” starring Joy Reid—a move that other network hosts like Rachel Maddow are calling a “bad mistake.” Reid has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump, and her departure from MSNBC will be felt by viewers across the country who have looked to her show for her powerful, straightforward reporting.

The cancellation of “The ReidOut” comes at a concerning time. Right now, the Trump administration is ramping up its attacks on media outlets that criticize Trump, his administration, and Elon Musk. Trump has also attacked equity and inclusion efforts, slashing programs centering diversity. Removing one of the most prominent Black women providing political commentary from the air—one who was unapologetic in calling out this administration and amplifying underrepresented voices—is more than disappointing. It's reckless.

We need MSNBC to know that viewers demand Joy Reid’s commentary and expertise. Add your name to the petition NOW!

Why is this important?

Joy Reid made history as cable television’s first Black woman primetime anchor. A vocal critic of Trump and Republicans, Reid often went viral for her scathing commentary and analysis. “The ReidOut” has been on air since 2020, and its abrupt ending is a disappointment to viewers who have looked to the show over the past four years for its cutting interviews and coverage.

This decision is part of a disturbing trend by MSNBC of cancelling shows that feature Black women—including Tamron Hall, Melissa Harris-Perry, and Tiffany Cross. In this recent wave of cuts, MSNBC also canceled “The Katie Phang Show” and  “José Díaz-Balart Reports,” though Phang and Díaz-Balart will stay with the network.

Trump is already celebrating MSNBC’s decision, wasting no time to take to social media to denigrate Reid and the network. We need to be louder than Trump and conservatives trying to cancel prominent voices like Reid’s. Make sure MSNBC hears from us—its viewers—and let them know that Reid is a trusted and necessary voice in political commentary and deserves to stay in prime time.

MSNBC has more than a million viewers and is a trusted news source for many. We need them to do better and not only commit to centering on diverse voices in their reporting but on supporting diverse anchors and investing in their shows.

Call on MSNBC to reverse its decision and reinstate “The ReidOut” immediately!
