CALIFORNIA STATE TRAVEL & BUSINESS BOYCOTT OF ANTI-CHOICE STATES
The State of California has been at the forefront of civil liberties for the LGBTQ community and has agreed to ban travel to states that discriminate against members of the LGBTQ community. We now call upon the California State Legislature and Senate to ban state-funded/sponsored travel and business with those states that rob women of their bodily autonomy and endanger their health by instituting fetal heartbeat abortion bans. If "California Trusts Women" and supports their ability to make their own choices with regard to their reproductive health, then California needs to back-up that belief with its economic power by withdrawing its financial support to states that jeopardize the rights and health of women. Why is this important?
One of the main reasons maternal mortality has been rising in the United States is directly related to the barriers to reproductive health and abortion that anti-choice politicians have been putting forth in their State legislatures. California has consistently supported the rights of the LBGTQ community by instituting travel and/or business bans with States that discriminate against the LBGTQ community. Its time that California uses its economic power to support the rights and reproductive health of women as well.
