Change the name of Painter Hall to Honor Diversity Instead of Racism

Painter Hall at University of Texas, Austin was named after Theophilus Painter, the UT law school president who denied Heman Marion Sweatt, a black man, admission based upon his race. The name of the hall should be changed to Sweatt Hall to honor Mr. Sweatt, who took the case all the way to the supreme court and won, paving the way for Brown v. Board of Education and desegregation of schools nationwide.

Why is this important?

I am starting this petition, because I believe it is time for us, as a country, to move beyond our racist and unjust past.
