CHANGE UNIFORM POLICY!

On behalf of many students to respectfully request that the new jacket color policy be reconsidered. We understand that uniform policies are meant to create a professional learning environment and promote school unity. However, limiting jackets to only black, white, and orange has created concerns for many students and families. Many students already own jackets in other solid colors that meet the school’s dress code and are appropriate for school.
Why is this important?
The new school uniform policy should be reconsidered because it limits students’ ability to express their individuality while still following the school’s dress code. For many students, choosing how to coordinate their uniforms is one of the few ways they can show their personality and creativity. Restricting jackets to only three colors significantly reduces that opportunity for the Class of 2027 and for future classes as well.
While school spirit is an important part of the legacy at MCC, the students themselves are what truly create that legacy. Many families have already purchased jackets and other clothing items for the upcoming school year that no longer meet the new policy, creating unexpected financial burdens and unnecessary waste.
Keeping the previous policy, which allowed additional appropriate colors, would continue to maintain a professional school environment while giving students more flexibility to express themselves. Allowing reasonable choices encourages school pride and helps students feel confident and excited about coming to school.
