Clean Up Neponset Reservoir
We, the residents of Foxborough, believe Schneider Electric, who knowingly inherited pollution issues from Invensys when they purchased the company, should be required to move forward with a cleanup of the Neponset Reservoir.
Why is this important?
Heavy metals, such as cadmium, continue to exist in the sediment of the Reservoir and pose a “significant risk” to public welfare and the condition of the Reservoir as a whole because it impacts property uses,
represents degradation of public resources, has significant negative community effects and is a nuisance condition, as stated by environmental consultants and Professional Wetlands Scientists hired by NRRC. Environmental cleanup would improve a beloved town resource by decreasing the amount of metals, prevent increasing shallowness via sedimentation and bring good jobs to the area through environmental cleanup companies. It is a win-win-win for Schneider Electric, the Town of Foxborough and the natural resources and aquatic life that surround, and are part of, the Neponset Reservoir.
