Commemorate MLK Day by Advancing H.RES.586
This petition is to commemorate MLK Day 2022 and to honor Congressman Jake Auchincloss of MA for sponsoring H.RES.586 and his colleagues who co-sponsored the Bill.
H.R.586 is a resolution to appeal to the Government of the United States to develop a Marshall Plan for global vaccination, similar to the one implemented at the end of the WWII.

The first Marshall Plan was the most successful US foreign aid program that helped 13 Western European countries recover from the devastation of WWII. Marshall Plan II, once implemented, will reach the entire world, bring vaccine equity globally, set future standards and save lives.
Two years ago, when COVID-19 first emerged, the mode of transmission was known and it was only a matter of time before it engulfed the entire world. No country was saved. Even if the Unites States commissions and manages the Marshall Plan for Global Vaccines it would be worth it because no one is safe unless everyone is safe.
At the time this petition was launched, approximately 330 million people, the same number of the US population, have been infected by COVID.19 globally and 5.5 million have died. This only confirms that a global pandemic cannot be curtailed by unevenly distributing vaccines and, instead, needs a Marshall Plan.
Indeed, H.R.586 is a responsibility and an opportunity for the United States. The 117 Congress of the United States has started a trend that will establish vaccine equity and make COVID-19 manageable. We the people cannot look away. If it is not us, who? Please mark 15 January 2022 as an important service day and call your representatives until H.R.586 becomes a reality.
Thank you,
