CONGRESS: We Need A Path To Citizenship NOW!

Recently, a federal judge in Southern Texas barred the government from accepting new DACA applicants, leaving tens of thousands of potential DACA recipients without work authorization or protection from deportation.

In addition, this ruling ordered the DACA program to be partially ended, an immigration program that shields nearly 700,000 immigrants brought to the US as children from deportation.

Right now, hundreds of thousands of lives are at risk and now first-time DACA applicants are losing their deportation protections along with their ability to work and drive legally in the United States.

For now, current DACA recipients are allowed to apply for renewals. Still, this decision makes one thing absolutely clear: only a permanent legislative solution passed by Congress will eliminate the fear and uncertainty that Dreamers face yet again.

Congress must take immediate action and includes a path to citizenship for Dreamers, TPS-holders, and essential workers in the upcoming infrastructure and Senate resolution budget package.

Poll after poll has shown that the American public on both sides of the aisle supports a path to citizenship for immigrants and want Democrats to use every political and legislative tool available to them to deliver concrete results this year.
