Demand Pharmacy Action

Local Pharmacies in this area are running huge backlogs of medical prescriptions, which is affecting patients ability to get their medications and birth control.
Several local pharmacies closed without any thought being given to what the local capacity is. With too low capacity to serve the community and shortages of workers to process prescriptions, local residents are having to go without their medications or be subjected to unreasonable and lengthy delays.
We need our elected representatives to take this up with local business leaders and medical providers to ensure that there is adequate healthcare and pharmacy capacity here.

Why is this important?

Patients need their prescriptions filled in a timely manner. Many patients have acute conditions and cannot wait for days or weeks. Female birth control users need their birth control pills, or they risk pregnancy/ hormonal issues.
People with chronic illness need medications continually and cannot afford gaps in their medication.
Most people do not have time to spend hours in line or on the phone. It is difficult to get prescriptions transferred to another pharmacy.
