Demand that The US House be expanded to at least 1000 members

The Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929, a Jim Crow Era statute, froze the size of the house nearly a century ago.  Since then, the US House has grown less and less a place where democracy happens and more and more a place where democracy goes to die.  Our current US House is populated by professional politicians who spend much of their time raising money from rich people so that they can hold onto their relatively cushy jobs.  These people have enormous power because the size of the House has been limited to only 435 members, yet they are allowed to essentially chose their constituents rather than their constituents choosing them.

And we have lived through the US House of Representatives failing to produce a budget more times than it has produced one over the past 2 decades.

Our government is not working for anyone but the rich, powerful, and members of the US elected class.

If the US House was enlarged to at least 1000 members, an idea promoted by Danielle Allen of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government back in 2023, and if the statute replacing the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929 required that representation of all persons in the US, i.e. if a state qualifies for 18.2 representatives, then 18.2 votes in Congress would be awarded that state, we might see a US House that actually works.  If that replacement statute also required members of the US House to stay in their home districts most of the time, allowing them to travel to DC only a few times per year, say for the State of the Union address by the President, we would have US House members who are involved in local politics who are required to translate those local issues to national contexts.
