Democrats: Stand strong against Tea Party Republicans

Democrats and reasonably-minded Republicans must stand strong -- demand a vote on a clean continuing resolution to reopen the government -- and don't capitulate on Social Security, Obamacare, or other vital programs.

Why is this important?

I am deeply disappointed that our Republican brethren do not seem able to set aside their agenda for the sake of the good of the country. As a result of their obstinacy, I have been unable to deal with tax questions (no one is manning the help lines at the IRS), and I am worried both about my parents, who depend on their meager Social Security payments, and the long-term impact on the health of several family members who depend on the Veteran's Administration for psychiatric and medical healthcare.
