Do Not Cut Social Security

This petition is about President Obama's recent proposal to cut Social Security by lowering cost-of-living adjustments for current and future retirees. I ask you, respectfully, at least to oppose this proposal, and if possible argue for the reverse position. To do otherwise would be to negatively affect the lives of many retired Texans who have no other means of support and for whom re-entering the job market is not a real possibility. Additionally, such a move would further upset the economy as it would redirect the income of those who are younger into the help of their loved ones, which would cut their ability to service debt and buy the goods that keeps others employed. It is a vicious cycle, but one which I hope you will take a stand to stop.
