Do Not Cut Social Security or Medicare

Say no to President Obama's proposal to cut Social Security by lowering the cost-of-living adjustment for current and future retirees.

Why is this important?

President Obama has proposed cutting Social Security by lowering cost-of-living adjustments for current and future retirees. These cuts, sometimes called "chained CPI," will hurt seniors who have paid into the system for their whole lives and are already struggling with rising health care costs.

Eighty-seven percent of registered voters 50 and older say it's "very important" that policymakers not cut benefits for current or near retirees.

Social Security is sound for many years to come. It can be made even stronger by raising the ceiling on high-income contributions.

Instead of cutting Medicare benefits, allow Medicare to make huge savings by negotiating prices with the greedy Drug Companies.

Representative Swalwell, you’ve said you will defend Social Security. You can take a strong stand against President Obama's cuts to Social Security and Medicare by signing Representatives Grayson and Takano's letter to the President. It says "That’s why we write to let you know that we will vote against any and every cut to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security benefits -- including raising the retirement age or cutting the cost of living adjustments that our constituents earned and need."
