Change the federal law that penalizes non service connected veterans from losing their pensions if they get married to someone and by not having the non service connected disablity becasue if they are proven disabled by the VA or even social security administration and were in a war that it is indeed service connected and to not penalize veterans for medical records that the VA lost
Why is this important?
Its very hard for a veteran to be able to prove that they got disabled due to the wars they fought my husband is got severely injured back in the vietnam war and has all kinds of problmes but was only able to get non service connected disablity even though his records got lost. The problem is that its really hard for veterans to get even non service disablity and they dont get as good of care as those who are lucky enough to get service connected. The sad thing is that my husband lost his benefits after we got married because if you are non service connected even though I am disabled myself on SSD they dont give him money. This happens to alot of veterans and I dont think its right to penalize a veteran even if it was no fault of their own they should overturn the law and not penalize non service connected veterans they should be able to get married and not be punished for getting married. I think they need to quit doing the non service connected thing because they use that as an excuse to get out of paying veterans a stipend even though alot of times records that were lost were not the veterans fault. I think if anyone who was a veteran should have respect and be able to get treated with dignity the veterans tests for disablity are toughter than social security and if the veteran is considered disabled by the veterans then they shouldnt play the non service game especially if they were in a war like my husband was in its not his fault that the va lost alot of his records.
