To: Mick Mulvaney and The United States Senate

Mulvaney can't be budget director, he doesn't get home economics!

Reject budget director nominee Rep. Mick Mulvaney!

He said: "In 2000, we had triplets. When they came home, we hired someone to help my wife take care of the children. In our minds, she was a babysitter. She did not live with us. She did not spend the night there. She did not cook. She did not clean. She did not educate the children; she helped my wife with the kids."

Just a babysitter? She did the work that made his work possible. If Mulvaney doesn't see that, he shouldn't be confirmed for one of the most important home economics roles we've got.

Why is this important?

Mulvaney's "accidental" failure to recognize that a woman who spent 4 years raising his children was an employee reflects a racist, misogynist history that goes back to the 1930s, when southern congressmen wouldn't support labor protections unless farm workers and domestic workers (like nannies) were left out.

We've seen more devaluing of women's lives and labor this election than we can stomach. Sign this petition to tell the Senate that Mulvaney is an unacceptable choice!
